A Tale of Two Cities

french revolution“Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité”

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, a tragic story about love and the horrors of the French Revolution. A time period where radicals ruled, anything and everything happened. Executions by the guilltone everyday left an right, people starving, and hatred against clergy roamed the streets.  Dickens masterfully weaved a tale of love within this harsh and cruel setting. The characters are unforgettable with the forever alone Sydney Carton to the sweetheart Lucie. They are what make this story so great. I felt sad when Sydney Carton declared his love for Lucie because he was the man that she needed, but not the man she deserved. The ending of the story will be the most unforgettable scene for me due to the sadness that happens. It is a great book for all to read and a classic if you have the time.
